About Spirit

1Meditation: to think deeply. (Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary - Tenth Edition)
The fact is, if you think there is a Spirit then for you there is One. If you think there is no Spirit then for you there isn't one. It's all in the way you think about it - or, not. My spiritual mentor then said to me, "If I think there is a Spirit and there isn't One then I've lost nothing. However, if you think there isn't a Spirit and there is one then you may have lost everything." Think about It (that One - Spirit)! What do you have to lose?
How close can we come to Spirit? Spiritually I was told, "And Bill, you will never know It (that One) all." I've found since I was given that message that not only do I not know It all but, none of us humans seem to know It in the same way that another human knows Spirit. In any case, no matter how you know the Spirit, you must have first experienced It to truly know It.
To have experience of the Spirit all we have to do is think about It. However, thinking about It may be a little different than the common way we thought about most things. In thinking about Spirit, we must think about It deeply enough that It begins to think for us. "To think deeply" of course, is the base definition of the word - "meditation." Yet, meditation itself is first but a word.
We now return to words. Words, as mentioned, can be found listed in our dictionary. But, why are words so important to us and to Spirit?
There were many tricks put into the game of human life when Spirit first created humankind. One of those tricks was to give us the ability to create the spoken word. The spoken word then works for us in humanity yet, against our ability to understand the Spirit. When you think deeply enough that the Spirit thinks for you there are no words to express the depth of thought. The reason for this is that the Spirit actually does all the thinking while we actually do not think - what we do is something like thinking but not exactly the same as pure thought. The practice of thinking something like Spirit does make us think that we do think - or something like that!
But, this does not mean to think alot (in hugh amounts) it means to think about whatever questions you have of the Spirit (and than could be anything) and bring those thought to the center of your soul (Soul - "the Spirit in humankind"). Ask the Spirit, with real desire to hear the answer, "deep down within your soul, and then "watch and listen" for Its answer. The answer will come instantaneously - all you have to do is bring it into this world by watching and listening. And, don't pre-suppose how or who may deliver that answer. "God often speaks to us through other people."
There are a lot of metaphors to be found in human scripture. Metaphors create images, descriptions and similes but they are not exactly the thing we want to describe itself. As William Shakespeare might say, "A word by any other name would sound so sweet!"
In few words then, think about It. Think about that One Spirit and think about any word(s) that you want to use to think about It. Think deeply about It as often as you can and the Spirit will begin to think with and eventually for you.
Abwoon.
