Ancient Wisdom of the Dreamcatcher
The lore or stories of any cultural tradition allow us to learn valuable lessons regarding the values and beliefs of that culture. Aboriginal or Native cultures use stories or lore to pass this information on to their children helping guide them in making good decisions on their path through life. Animals and spiritual leaders figured largely in these stories as both were important aspects of their lives.
Below you will find three separate stories, each from a different Native American Tribe, regarding the Dreamcatcher. Each of the stories involves the Tribal Shaman (spiritual leader) and a Spider who inspires the web that is constructed within the dreamcatcher frame. Each story has the good dreams sliding or flowing to the intended person with the bad dreams captured in the webbing and eliminated when the rays of the sun touch the dream catcher in the morning.
